Blue bags grow better crops

Maximise barley yields with the right fertiliser strategy

Is Barley an important crop for your Farm?

If so, then feeding the crop with the right balance of Nitrogen and Sulphur is key.  Adequate Sulphur allows the applied Nitrogen to be used more efficiently, enhancing yields and grain quality in malting crops.

APPLY MORE AND EARLY FOR YIELD GAIN

New advice updated in RB209 recommends applying more Nitrogen earlier.

  • Evidence suggests increasing rates in winter barley by 20kg/N/ha every extra tonne of yield over 8.5t/ha,
  • Applying a higher proportion of the crop's N requirement early for significant yield lift.
  • This system delivered a 0.5t/ha extra yield in CF trials from applying N early.

WHY IS THIS?

Maximise light interception for more yield.
